Quik-Call II (QCII)

(Learning and Programming Radio Features)

Quik-Call II (QCII) is a "Non-ASTRO" signaling protocol that is used by specifically defined Conventional Systems, and therefore for specifically defined Conventional - channels. QCII is a sequential tone protocol normally associated with portable radios and pagers where the decoding of specific tone sequences sent from a radio or dispatch center allows individual radios, or groups of radios, to receive messages (Call Alerts or Selective Calls) intended only for them. This is a feature commonly used by rural fire departments.

Currently, only Quik-Call II Decode is supported by APX radios.

1.

From the Conventional System, General Page, the System Type field must be set to "Quik-Call II".

( This system will be selected for use with the appropriate "Non-ASTRO" Conventional Personality )

3.

A Conventional Personality must be appropriately setup in order to select a QCII System:

4.

This Conventional System (from Steps #1 and #2) may then be selected for the Conventional Personality (from step #3) from the Personality's Signaling Page, Non-ASTRO System field.

5.

From the same Personality's Non-ASTRO Call Page, the Call Alert Rx / Tx field must be set to "Decode"

6.

If the radio-user Voice Mute button-press or Voice Mute menu-selection is desired functionality, then the Personality's Non-ASTRO Call Page In-Call User Alert Enable feature must be enabled.

7.

From the Radio Wide, Alert Tone Page, the Call Alert Tone Auto Reset field can allow for only one sequence of the QCII tones to be heard.
